Affiliate marketing is really an art form. Not surprised I said that, eh? Well it is...one of the biggest mistakes early internet marketers make is not taking it seriously enough. Seriously, this happens quite a lot. Why exactly does it happen? It's because people that get into internet marketing frequently are the kinds of people that are looking for the
"easy way out." They aren't the kind of people that want to work hard...generally. But they are also frequently the kind of people that would rather work for themselves, and when they work for themselves they work very hard. In other words, they are entrepreneurs....
But if you've never started a business before, it can be tempting to simply jump right in without a plan. Jumping in without a plan, and learning to "swim" that way, isn't the worst idea. Sometimes the best way is to just go into it and not look back. But eventually you will have to take seriously the actual fabric of your business because it is in fact a
business and not just a "get rich quick scheme". If all you're doing is expecting some kind of miracle money making scheme, then you can think again! It's never going to be that easy. But sometimes it comes pretty close, depending on who
you're getting your advice from. If you want to know a great
online money maker, just do this:
1. Find a Great Product - Find a product that is selling. How do you know if it's selling? Go on clickbank or wherever your affiliate network is and check out the success of the product. On clickbank you can tell which products are having an impact by the "gravity" percentage. It's always important to do some testing on your product before you start gung-ho promoting it, because otherwise it's a bit of a waste. So never start work on a product until you are sure it is getting sales and interest from customers.
2. Promote Your Product - Once you've found an excellent product, it's time to promote it. Always include tracking code in your affiliate links so you know exactly where the link comes from. When you add tracking code, keep track of what the code is and then write it down. Write down where you put the link also. It's very important to keep track of where your links are so that you can always find the successful article posts or copy that was used to sell the product. Think of it this way: 100 people can make 100 commercials but it's possible that only three or four actually make people want to buy the product. The same is true for your copy. As much as we would all like to believe that the product sells itself, the fact is, much of the time copy is very necessary to get people interested. And how will you know which copy has worked unless you are tracking it. Once you've found successful copy, you can send people there more often in order to make more sales.
3. Save What Works - Always keep track of what's working and what isn't. When you've found a page that's converting, you can send people there and it will produce sales for you. Never spend time on a product until you know it will convert. There are many ways to test products, but I'll say again, until you know it works, don't spend time on it.
