“I need to make money…” – Affiliate Marketing Lessons pt. 10 – The Art of Giving

One of the biggest trends in the affiliate marketing world since it first began in fact is giving away free things in order to get people to buy something. It’s an art, and it does work exceptionally well if applied correctly. People these days are starting to get rather wary of the normal, everyday kind of give-a-way. A free tutorial about wordpress featuring high-definition video and PDF explanations in an 8-part series is favorable over the run-of-the-mill boring ebook report that is 15 pages long. Having said that, nothing is free is really ever totally bad is it? Unless it’s some kind of STD…Tantalizing promises in an ebook amount to nothing without actual results. But what if you could provide a very difficult to believe promise, backed-up with, even more amazingly, actual results? It would be something wouldn’t it? In my attempt to help you understand how to make money online with free things, it would be in my interest to first explain that:

a). You are not special.

b). You may be very special indeed…

Let me explain what I mean by this, completely confusing set of statements. When people come to you, they know absolutely nothing about you. You don’t need to get them to like you; you need to get them to need you. Need is much more important, and fundamentally stronger than like. So how exactly do you do this, you may ask? It’s as simple and complicated as providing people with something they really need, in a partial way. If you gave away an awesome product with all the answers right there in it, where would be the need to buy something? The need to buy something comes when you tempt people with something, and then ask them to follow you; where they follow you to is the buy page of Clickbank, or wherever. It is there that they will purchase what you’re selling. But then, and only then, will they buy. Yes kid, you’re special, I don’t deny you that! Stay thinking that way. But…also know this: nobody knows you’re special, and lots of people want desperately to believe you’re not. Prove to them you are with your actions, not words. Create in people a desperate need for more information by any means necessary. If you do this and do it well, you can’t possibly fail.
